Gonna have a word with keith tonight re the forum if he doesnt want to keep it as an alliance forum, Wot about keeping it as a forum for lancashire scooterists !!!

If I were asked for my opinion I would have to say leave things as they are, it would be a shame to have to rebrand/change format due to the ill considered comments of 1 muppet.
I appreciate that what was said could be construed as libelous but it's a public forum and people tend to be brave when they have the anonymity of a nickname to hide behind, besides if it was a genuine gripe then he had every right to air his discontent, although it may have been better to have gone to the shop first!
The forum admin removed the offending post as soon as it was made aware the post existed so I can't see what more you could have done??
Leave the forum as it is, it's a good tool for all of the scooterists in the area and it would be a shame to lose it.
I run the AFSC forum and require a proper introduction from all prospective members (including real name,) before they are allowed access to the forum proper to prevent exactly this kind of thing happenning, I know it's a bit more work but it might be an idea to stop idiots with sod all better to do signing up and creating shite all the time??

I agree with joey, nowt wrong with what you are doing guys.. you took the offending article off once a grievance was stated.. whats the problem!! continue to scrutinise the forum as you are doing and if any further developments occur regarding more formal action... then take further steps, it is a public forum and a great way for local clubs to communicate as well as allowing others to air their differences as long as they can back them up ... keep the name, keep the alliance flag flying" K.T.F

If you have no disclaimer at the opening page stating that all comments on the site are those of that individual only then ,as the law is,you are construed to be equally libelous by allowing it. You must distance yourself for your own safety possibly by delaying certain comments until they are assessed as a valid post.
This could possibly be done by having their own topic heading and give the "accused" notice of post and a right of reply.

I forgot to mention that Butch, a disclaimer in the rules section will alleviate one or 2 headaches, heres the one from SBW and it's quite comprehensive so something similar might be a good idea.

this site has had so many user accounts made by dick heads who hide and when challenged to come out from behind there screen they disappear just shows there are still plenty of bell ends who need to be taught how to grow up

Sorry for the long absence but as you know i have moved house to Rhuddlan near Rhyl.

Don't change the brand. The Lancashire Scooter Aliance is a world wide highly respected brand name that we are all fiercely proud of. Lets face it, we have it all.

Its all about balance and you have it right. Don't police it like the Gestapo as people will be reluctant to post, they have to be able to air there views without them being edited but at the same time there has to be on site moderators, regular users who by association can be given the authority to challenge posts quickly that are vindictive and poisonous. Banter and serious piss taking is what its all about. Its a good website, it turns over regularly and doesn't go stale.

Banning of IP Numbers prevents the continued barrage of false names coming from the same guy and terminal. Just ban them, no petty insults, just ban them.

Both Paul and Keith are ever present at the rallies and rideouts, always doing there bit and a bit more and all without banging a drum, you have to respect that and what they do for us all.

When we have a site like this you will always get some one who can mess it up for everyone, on the whole have to agree with most of the post`s above, we have a good site that is well used by most of the club`s in the Alliance,so let`s keep it going!

Had a word with el kietho last night decided to keep the forum but make a few changes also we would like a few volunteers to moderate the site to enable it to run smoothly and to jump on dickhead posters. At the moment im gonna concentrate on the new website . Also mentioned was the amount of people just USING the lancs alliance site as an advertising stage for there personal do,s and events. From now on all events will be advertised on the lancs alliance website . So if you wanna be a moderator let us know,anyhow time to do one bridlington is calling.

Glad the forum is back, its because of forums like this that the scene is in such a healthy state, communication is everything when it comes to getting things organised. Sometimes you dont know what you have until its gone.

Glad to see you've decided to stick with it. It's a shame when hard work is shredded by idiots with no thought about the consequences of their postings/actions.

SBW had a few problems with a couple of idiot posters, antagonists, anons etc and the rules were brought up to date with a lot of thought from the Admin and Mods. It seems to be working quite well, but you will always get one or two who like to push issues. Apart from admin, there are a few of us moderators around regularly enough to catch out of order posts, relatively quickly, reducing the potential for trouble. Also, by making people aware that they are liable for their own postings, you find that other members tend not to reply to them if they think they are dodgy.
