I would say main oil seal gone, but the look of that it might not have one in!!!! Check your gear level and checkfor petrol in it, has the exhaust not been used for a while, it could be just that its full of oil/petrol

id say the main seal is not in it but if it was broke then bits would lock up your crank (usually)

the seal is roughly abart 10 quid how ever the yamma bond we use to fix them in is £30 a tube you can use locktite but it sets to hard and cracks with pressure hence blowing another tip is to squash the face of the seal a tad to stopp it touching the crank h.barlow in leicster sells them pre squashed

i blew 5 seals 1 after the other on me 172 untill i used the yamma bond

Not wanting to get all geeky but your petrol is gravity fed so if you leave your petrol tap on you run the risk of filling the cases up with petrol.

I am not going to dispute that it could be an oil seal but in my experince i would say that all he has done is left on his petrol tap.

I had same thing happen, not saying its not the seals, probably is, but turning petrol tap off every time has cured it.
